Good to be back home in Vermont.
Took a long walk today through the forest with Pippin. We continued into evening, as the forest settled into blues and greys and blacks. I came to a clearing. I noticed how the dark ending-light provided cohesion to the tree trunks, as if a layer of old loosely-woven tapestry had been draped over their rough surfaces, and every falling early Autumn leaf shone like a muted stream of gold.
